“More Than Style” is my go-to for all things sustainable fashion! As contemporary consumers, it has become paramount for us to do our part to lessen our footprint on the environment through our own apparel consumption. Even the smallest of efforts matter and every little bit counts!
I wanted to share my own personal experience with sustainable fashion with a brand I have come to know and love as a customer, sales associate, assistant manager, and now as a merchandising intern: Aeropostale. For many Millennials and Gen Z-ers, Aeropostale is a name that triggers nostalgia and flashbacks of matching sweatsuits and branded tees you probably wore all throughout middle school. What many people are unaware of is that Aeropostale is SO much more than just graphic tees. It has become a leader in affordable and sustainable fashion among Gen Z-ers.
Aero has worked hard to widen its assortment of sustainable fashion, asserting itself as a champion of sustainability with Aero x REPREVE—its line of eco-friendly denim. REPREVE is a sustainable, eco-friendly fiber made from recycled plastic bottles. These earth-friendly jeans and shorts take you to the next level of sustainable stretch for a superior fit! They come in a variety of rises and range from midi short to full-length jegging to their very own Slim & Thick Curvy fit. Not to mention, they offer an assortment of washes, rinse, rip and repair, and destroyed. If I haven’t sold you already, Aero x REPREVE Jeans start at just $15.87—wallet-friendly AND environmentally friendly; it doesn’t get much better than that! Through the use of their REPREVE fabric, Aero has recycled more than 27 million plastic bottles. (And this number continues to grow as denim designers are working to continue to incorporate REPREVE in their guys’ and girls’ denim assortments, as sustainability is the future of fashion.) Check out the Girls’ REPREVE Slim & Thick Curvy High-Rise Jegging below. Among many other feats in sustainability, Aero also repurposes excess cotton to create their sustainable line of OG tees. Here’s the ‘90s Slim Kate Tee in white, made from repurposed cotton:

Usually between January and March, Aero partners with DoSomething.org to run their annual Teens for Jeans campaign, where they collect and donate jeans to homeless teens in need. Customers who donate a pair of jeans get a coupon for 20% off their next purchase. Look out for Aero’s next Teens for Jeans drive early 2021!
