Online Thrifting

Last time, I talked about using the secondhand items as one of the ways for shopping in sustainable way and shared my personal experience at the local thrift store. Today, I am going to talk more about the secondhand but more convenient and easier way to shop, online thrift shopping.

One of the largest and best online thrift stores is thredUP. They have a wide range of categories from men and women to kids, maternity, accessories, and plus sizes. Their brand list is vast and huge from Gap and J.crew to Gucci and Channel. They have so many items, so when you first enter the website, you probably have no idea where to start. But they well organized items by category, and you can filter them in detail for what you want by size, brands, colors, price, material, and so on.

This is easier and more practical way of shopping when you need to find specific, certain items because you don’t just have to dig up random piles in an offline thrifting store. However, just browsing is also fun. You can sometimes find new items with tags or old vintage rare items. It is like a treasure hunting at your home in your own time.

I created an outfit from thredUP items below. There are various brands and price ranges are wide as you can see. All the prices are reasonable and affordable.

Another good thing in thredUP is that you can also sell your used clothing. The process of selling is very easy to follow and well systemized. You don’t have to take pictures, contact the person who buy yours, or type in all the descriptions. All you have to do is request a bag, pack your stuff in, and send it off! After inspection, you can get cash or credit, or you have an option to donate. You are not only be able to clean out your closet but also refresh the closet with other secondhand items which are new to you. It is absolutely a great way to shop sustainably and support environment.
